The security of your online account is very important to OnePath. All information within your Account access or a wrap service (PortfolioOne) is protected by 128-bit encryption.
If the connection between our servers and your computer is "secure", your browser will display a small closed lock () in the status bar (bottom) and the web site address will start with "https" instead of "http".
Whilst encryption offers a high level of security, it cannot guarantee that there will be no breaches of security. Most security breaches are caused by (i) users choosing passwords that can be easily discovered by third parties; (ii) someone stealing a password that has been written down; or (iii) someone watching the user type in their password.
Your password should be changed on a regular basis to reduce the likelihood of such security breaches.
When logging in to a "secure" section, you may receive either of the following browser messages:
You are about to be redirected to a connection that is not secure. The information you are sending to the current site might be transmitted to a non-secure site. Do you want to proceed?"
You have requested an insecure document that was originally designated a secure document (the location has been redirected from a secure to an insecure document). The document and any information you send back could be observed by a third party while in transit."
Both of these alerts are general messages to inform you that you are leaving the "secure" (encrypted) area and being transferred to a "non-secure" (not encrypted) area.
The logon page where you enter your username and password details is secured by encryption to protect your logon information. All pages following the logon page are also secured by encryption. The small closed lock () in the status bar of your browser indicates that this is the case.
If you are logged in to the "secure" area of OnePath's website but your session is inactive (for instance if you forget to logout), your session will be automatically closed after 30 minutes.
To ensure privacy, please ensure you logout and close all your browser windows once you have finished working.
